After graduating from Brown with a double concentration in Economics and Business, Entrepreneurship and Organizations, Burshtan went on to get a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from the University of Chicago with a Finance Specialization in 1986. In Chicago, Burshtan continued to powerlift and won the Illinois Collegiate Championships in 1986.

Burshtan is a pilot and a retired portfolio manager, having last worked as a Small Cap Growth Portfolio Manager at Neuberger Berman for 13 years.
