English, Ehlert Earn Brown Student-Athlete of the Week Honors

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Men’s soccer senior midfielder Quinn English and volleyball sophomore outside hitter Makena Ehlert have earned Brown University Athletics Student-Athlete of the Week honors for the week of Oct. 2-8, Brown announced on Tuesday.

Senior midfielder Quinn English scored the game-winning goal in Brown’s 1-0 win over Princeton in its Ivy League home opener on Saturday night at Stevenson-Pincince Field. A native of Milwaukee, Wis., English knocked home a one-timed shot from the edge of the goal area in the 49th minute to lift the Bears to the victory. He netted his second goal of the season and the third of his career, pushing his season point total to six points and his career point total to 14 points. 

Makena Ehlert, Volleyball, Sophomore, Orange County, Calif.
Sophomore outside hitter Makena Ehlert recorded 20 kills (2.86 per set), five aces (0.71 per set), 21 digs (3.00 per set), four blocks, and a .255 hitting percentage last week as Brown went 1-1. A native of Orange County, Calif., she posted season highs with 12 kills and 16 digs alongside three aces, two blocks, and a .300 hitting percentage in a 3-1 win over Columbia on Saturday. She posted eight kills on .200 hitting with five digs, two aces, and two blocks against Cornell on Friday.
