TIVERTON, R.I. – Senior captain Sara Nordstrom won a pair of blue ribbons to lead Brown University equestrian to a second-place team finish at the UMass Dartmouth IHSA Show at New Claddagh Farm on Saturday.
Nordstrom (Medina, Wash.) took first place in her classes in both open fences and open flat while freshman Hannah Woolley (Medfield, Mass.) captured first in intermediate flat to give the Bears three blue ribbons on the day. Brown posted six other top-three performances at the show.
Nordstrom opened the day with a victory in open fences while sophomore Hannah Guevara (Pasadena, Calif.) claimed third in intermediate fences.
In open flat, Nordstrom, senior captain Victoria Flagg (Great Falls, Va.), and senior Annaliese Fries (Kirkland, Wash.) came in first, fourth, and second respectively with Fries making her debut in the division.
Woolley paced the Bears with her blue ribbon in intermediate flat in her collegiate debut while Guevara came in third. In novice fences, seniors Alejandra Zamora (New Canaan, Conn.) and Caroline Marks (Seattle, Wash.) finished fifth and sixth respectively.
Sophomore Renee Seto (Barrington, R.I.) and senior Genoveva Eguiguren (Quito, Ecuador) each placed second in walk-trot-canter with Eguiguren making her debut in the division. In walk-trot, sophomore Emma Ramsdell (Cambridge, Mass.) placed third, and sophomore Sophie Starck (New York, N.Y.) took fourth.
Next, Brown competes at the Salve Regina IHSA Show on Saturday, Nov. 4 at Old Claddagh Farm in Tiverton, R.I.
