Gymnastics Scores Season-High 193.325 at Maryland Quad Meet

COLLEGE PARK, Md. – Brown University gymnastics scored a season-high 193.325 and set season bests on vault, bars, and floor, while finishing in fourth place in a quad meet at the University of Maryland with Rutgers and William & Mary on Sunday afternoon at the XFINITY Center.

As a team, the Bears established season highs on vault (48.100) and floor (48.050), tied their season best on bars (48.750), and tallied a 48.425 on beam.

In the team standings, the host Terrapins won the meet with a score of 196.575. The Rutgers Scarlet Knights came in second with a 193.950, the William & Mary Tribe placed third with a 193.650, and Brown finished fourth with its 193.325.

All six Bears that competed on vault posted or tied their season highs. Freshman Alyssa Gardner (Angola, N.Y.) led the way with a 9.750 while junior Julia Green (Exton, Pa.) supported her with a 9.675. Junior Gabrielle Hechtman (Bellmore, N.Y.) notched a 9.575, and senior Anya Olson (Farmington Hills, Mich.) and sophomores Anne Christman (Amherst, N.H.) and Diana Manzano (New Braunfels, Texas) each scored a 9.550.

Freshman Emma Hansen (Cincinnati, Ohio) paced Brown on bars, matching a season high and tying for third place at the meet with a 9.850. Olson posted a season-best 9.775 while freshman Kate Nelson (Montara, Calif.) and senior Claire Ryan (Greenwood, Minn.) each tallied a 9.725. Freshman Caroline Warren (Pawleys Island, S.C.) registered a 9.675, and Gardner tied her season high with a 9.600.

On beam, senior Regan Butchness (Barrington, Ill.) and freshman Rose Domonoske (Park City, Utah) tied for the team lead with a 9.750 apiece. Green, Hansen, and junior Cassidy Jung (San Marino, Calif.) scored a 9.700, 9.625, and 9.600 respectively.

Olson and fellow senior Anya Barca-Hall (Santa Cruz, Calif.) led Brown on floor with a 9.700 apiece – a personal best for Barca-Hall and season high for Olson. Christman, Green, and Domonoske completed the scoring with a 9.625, 9.575, and 9.450 respectively with Domonoske scoring a season high.

Next, Brown competes at NC State with Michigan and North Carolina on Feb. 17 at 6:00 p.m. prior to performing at North Carolina on Feb. 19 at 3:30 p.m.
