Anderson Selected by Yankees on Final Day of MLB Draft

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Senior right-handed pitcher Reid Anderson (Aledo, Texas) of the Brown University baseball team was selected by the New York Yankees on Wednesday on the third day of the 2018 Major League Baseball Amateur Draft.

Anderson, who was selected in the 40th round (1,207 overall), was a member of Brown's weekend rotation since his freshman season and wrapped up his four-year career with 26 starts out of 31 games played. He racked up 130 strikeouts over the past four seasons, highlighted by a team-high 41 strikeouts as a junior, marking his second straight season with at least 40 punchouts.  

Brown has had four draft selections in the last three years, including at least one in three straight years, along with Austin French (Los Angeles Dodgers, 2016), Christian Taugner (Milwaukee Brewers, 2017) and Rob Henry (Milwaukee Brewers, 2017).
