Bears Fall To Columbia, 28-14, In Final Game

A once promising 2009 season ended in disappointment for the Brown football team, as the Bears dropped a 28-14 decision to Columbia at Wein Stadium in their final regular season game. Brown finished third in the Ivy League standings with a 4-3 league mark, 6-4 overall, while Columbia moves to 4-6 overall, 3-4 in league play.

Bears Wrap-Up 2009 Season At Columbia
Brown football will face Columbia in its final regular season game on Saturday, November 21 at Wein Stadium in New York City, starting at 12:30 pm. The Bears have clinched a winning season for the eighth time in Phil Estes’ 12-year tenure as head coach at Brown and for the 58th time in Brown football history.

Farnham’s TD Reception Lifts Brown To 14-7 Overtime Win Over Dartmouth
Brown senior wide receiver Buddy Farnham caught a 17-yard touchdown pass in overtime, and senior defensive end James Develin stopped Dartmouth for a two-yard loss on the final play of the game, to lift the Bears to a 14-7 overtime victory over the Big Green at rain swept Brown Stadium. The win assures the Bears of at least third place in the Ivy standings with a 6-3 overall record, 4-2 in Ivy play, while Dartmouth drops to 2-7 overall and 2-4 in Ivy play.

Brown Honors Seniors At Final Home Game Against Dartmouth
Brown football will close out its 2009 home season on Saturday, November 14 against Dartmouth at Brown Stadium, beginning at 12:30 p.m. 22 football seniors will be honored in ceremonies prior to Saturday’s game against the Big Green. This year’s group of extraordinary seniors has posted a 20-18 record over their four-year careers, including a 15-11 Ivy mark, winning an Ivy League title in 2008. Brown’s Class of 2010 includes: Jack Anderson, Mark Callahan, David Clement, Kelley Cox, Tim Danser, James Develin, Buddy Farnham, Andrew Fertig, Brendan Gallagher, David Howard, Peter Hughes, Paul Jasinowski, Jarrid Johnston, Michael Lemmons, Matthew Mangiacotti, Brian Neff, Chris Perkins, Drew Plichta, Phil Roffi, Trevan Samp, Bobby Sewall and Alex Shields.
