Bears Fight Back from 4-1 Deficit to Force Overtime, but Fall, 6-5
November 21, 2009Junior Harry Zolnierczyk (Toronto, ONT) had two goals, including the game-tying goal, and an assist to lead Brown, but #9 Yale (3-2-2, 2-1-2) scored 2:32 into overtime to claim a 6-5 victory over the Brown men's hockey team (0-6-1, 0-4-1) on Saturday evening at Meehan Auditorium.
Bears Set to Host Yale in ECAC Battle Tonight
After one non-league game on Tuesday night, Brown returns home this evening to host Yale in a single ECAC contest against its travel partner. Still in search of their first win of the season, the Bears are also in search of their first victory over the Bulldogs since December of 2006, as Yale has won nine straight games, including five last season. Brown is currently led by senior Jordan Pietrus, who has four goals in six games, while four other players have three points, including senior Aaron Volpatti, who has two goals and an assist.
Providence Claims Mayor’s Cup for Third Straight Year with 4-3 Win over Bears
Brown spotted the Friars a 2-0 first-period lead and despite a valiant third-period comeback attempt, the Bears could never recover, as Providence (6-3-0) earned a 4-3 win over the Brown men's ice hockey team (0-5-1) in the 24th annual Mayor's Cup battle on Tuesday evening at Schneider Arena. Senior Jordan Pietrus (Winnipeg, MAN) led Brown with a pair of goals, while freshman Chris Zaires (Aberdeen, NJ) tallied a goal and an assist.
#3 Cornell Cruises Past Brown Men's Hockey, 6-0
Trailing, 3-0, with three minutes left in the game, the Bears pulled goalie Mike Clemente (Great Falls, VA) in favor of the extra attacker, but #3 Cornell (4-1-0, 3-1-0) exploded for three goals in the final 2:21 to earn a 6-0 victory over the Brown men's hockey team (0-4-1, 0-3-1) on Saturday evening at Meehan Auditorium.
