Peter Fallon Named Candidate For 2011 Lowe’s Senior CLASS Award

OVERLAND PARK, KS – Brown University defenseman Peter Fallon is among 20 NCAA men's lacrosse student-athletes, who excel both on and off the field, to be named candidates for the Lowe's Senior CLASS Award in lacrosse. To be eligible for the award, a student-athlete must be classified as an NCAA Division I senior and have notable achievements in four areas of excellence – community, classroom, character and competition.

An acronym for Celebrating Loyalty and Achievement for Staying in School®, the Lowe's Senior CLASS Award focuses on the total student-athlete and encourages students to use their platform in athletics to make a positive impact as leaders in their communities.

Fallon maintains a 3.6 GPA in modern American history. At the request of Inside Lacrosse, Fallon writes a blog about the state of the program and the student-athletes within it for their website.

A leader by example, Fallon trains hard in practice and in the weight room. His teammates can always depend on him to outwork an opponent and give his very best. Fallon also leads other ways, such as taking emotional cues from teammates and responding with the words and actions to properly motivate them. He inspires teammates with a variety of styles, but always with the theme of maintaining a strong, cohesive collection of men. Fallon has an incredible competitive spirit, balanced with a high moral sense of fair play and commitment to the true nature of collegiate athletics.

Fallon has excelled with balancing the demands of an Ivy League student and captain of the Brown Lacrosse program while transcending this daily life and assisting others both near and far. He provides the direction for the program's community outreach efforts, including our major initiative with MetroLacrosse this year and the associated 36-hour run to raise awareness and funds for this inner-Boston based youth organization.

The glue behind Brown's defensive effort, Fallon is a two-time first team All-Ivy and All-New England selection for the Bears. He was an honorable mention All-American selection in 2009, and ranked second on Brown's 2010 team with 37 ground balls. Last year Fallon received a rare honor for a defenseman in being named the Ivy League Player of the Week for his tenacious play in Brown's victories against #8 Cornell and Providence. A three-year starter, Fallon has helped the Brown team to two Ivy League Championships and one NCAA tournament appearance.

The 2011 candidate class includes 13 student-athletes with cumulative grade point averages of 3.0 or better. Ten are from teams ranked in the Inside Lacrosse preseason top 20, and eight players competed in the NCAA Division I Men's Lacrosse Championship last season, with two on the winning team.

Lowe's, an official Corporate Partner of the NCAA, will announce the winner May 28 at the NCAA Division I Men's Lacrosse Championship in Baltimore.
