Brown Earns Split With Dartmouth and Navy

The men’s swim team split against a pair of tough foes on Saturday, falling to Navy in a close 152-143 decision and knocking off Dartmouth by an impressive 180.50-117.50 margin to even their record at 2-2 in the early going. Junior Ryan Kikuchi led the way for Bruno, taking a first and second in individual events, and swimming as part of a winning relay.

Bears Take Second in Opening Meet
The men’s swim team kicked off the 2009-10 season over the weekend with a three-team meet at UConn, losing 175-124 to the host Huskies and knocking off Laval by an impressive 172-115 margin. The Bears saw a number of impressive individual performances though, including first place finishes in the 1000 freestyle and 200 IM by junior Ryan Kikuchi. Kikuchi was also part of the second place 200 medley relay, which finished just three seconds off of last season’s best time.

Swimming and Diving Announces Class of 2013
Head Coach Peter Brown recently announced the addition of 18 newcomers to the swimming and diving squads, with nine women and nine men set to join the Bears in 2009-2010. The impressive list includes two All-Americans, four members of All-State teams, and the Maine Swimmer of the Year.

Ricketts Named Honorable Mention CSCAA Scholar All-American
Former men’s swimming standout Dan Ricketts (Baltimore, MD) has been named an Honorable Mention CSCAA (College Swimming Coaches Association of America) Scholar All-American for the 2008-09 school year. Ricketts was won of 109 men’s swimming student-athletes across the country to earn this honor and one of just eight from the Ivy League to be recognized as an Honorable Mentions Scholar All-American.
