PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Brown University men's track & field team secured a pair of runner-up performances as the Bears wrapped up the second and final day of competition at the Ivy League Outdoor Track & Field Championships Sunday at Penn's Franklin Field.
Princeton won the team title with 178 points, followed by Penn (142), Cornell (81), Dartmouth (74), Columbia (68), Harvard (60), Brown (40) and Yale (39).
Junior Owen Russell (Attleboro, Mass.) was runner-up in the hammer throw with a toss of 208-4, finishing behind only Adam Kelly of Princeton to earn Second Team All-Ivy honors. Michael Coppolino (Cumberland, R.I.) was fifth in the event with a throw of 183-3.
Freshman Noah Ward (North Hampton, N.H.) turned in a second-place performance in the shot put with a toss of 54-8.25 to secure All-Ivy accolades.
Senior Zack Emrich (North Kingstown, R.I.) placed third in the finals of the 800 meters in a time of 1:49.21, while sophomore Zachary Lanigan (Sydney, Australia) finished fifth in the finals at 1:49.46.
Jason Katz (Wyckoff, N.Y.) claimed third place in the long jump with a leap of 23-9 and added a sixth-place showing the triple jump on Sunday at 49-5.
Senior Martin Martinez (Waukegan, Ill.) claimed a fourth-place finish in the 5,000 meters as he crossed the finish line at 14:12.38. Rookie Bretram Rogers (Grand Prairie, Texas) was sixth in the 110-meter hurdles at 14.50.
Senior Tosin Oyewole (Elkridge, Md.) qualified for the 400-meter finals with a personal-best time of 47.98 on Saturday, but was unable to compete on Sunday due to injury, also missing the 4x100 and 4x400 meter relays.
