BRIDGEPORT, Pa. – No. 15 Brown University men's water polo senior attacker Tommy Bush and freshman goalkeeper Riad Hallal have won weekly honors from the Northeast Water Polo Conference (NWPC), the Collegiate Water Polo Association announced on Wednesday.
Bush (Lafayette, Calif.) earned NWPC Player of the Week honors while Hallal (Coronado, Calif.) gained NWPC Rookie of the Week accolades after the Bears topped MIT (11-10) and fell to No. 14 Harvard (11-10, OT) last week.
In a pair of one-goal games last weekend, Bush totaled four goals, five assists, two steals, and an ejection drawn. He notched two goals, three assists, and an ejection drawn at MIT after posting two goals, two assists, and two steals at Harvard.
Hallal registered 11 saves on a .500 save percentage to go with an assist and three steals at Harvard, contributing eight stops in the second half and overtime. Hallal has now won NWPC weekly honors three times this season with two Rookie of the Week awards and one Defensive Player of the Week selection.
The duo and the Bears will compete in the Harvard Invitational this weekend with games against George Washington (Friday, 6:00 p.m.), Johns Hopkins (Saturday, 8:00 a.m.), No. 17 Bucknell (Saturday, 2:00 p.m.), No. 19 Pomona-Pitzer (Sunday, 11:45 a.m.), and Boston Metro (Sunday, 3:30 p.m., exhibition).
