Bears Defeat MIT, 7-6, at Men's Water Polo Eastern Championship
November 21, 2009Cambridge, MA- Goalie Kent Holland (Sr., Orinda, Calif./Miramonte) made a tournament high 17 saves between the pipes to earn Player of the Game honors and help his team rally back from 5-3 deficit entering the fourth quarter as the Bears tallied a 7-6 OT win in the second consolation game of the 2009 Men's Eastern Championship. The win places Brown into the fifth place game on Sunday against the Rams of Fordham University.
Bucknell Edges Brown 8-6 in Eastern Championship
Cambridge, MA-Bucknell University used a 5-0 run in the third period to overpower and outlast Brown University 8-6 in the opening round of the 2009 Men’s Eastern Championship hosted at MIT this afternoon. Brown freshman Svetozar Stefanovic, the CWPA Northern Division Player of the Year, scored twice in the loss, while senior captain Kent Holland, a First Team All-North selection, led the defense with nine saves in the cage.
Gordon Hood Named CWPA Northern Division Player of the Week
Providence, RI- Brown University’s Gordon Hood (Carlsbad, CA) put together two solid games for the men’s water polo team last week to lead his squad to the 2009 Northern Division title and earn Northern Division Player of the Week honors. The championship marks Brown’s first division title since 1993.
