Brown Wrestling Announces Class of 2016
May 11, 2012Head coach Dave Amato and the Brown University wrestling team has announced its class of 2016, consisting of five distinguished student-athletes: Will VanDoren (Delaware Valley, N.J.), Gus Marker (Castle View, Colo.), Sami Baghdady (Belmont, Mass.), Anthony Finocchiaro (Canastota, New York), and Austin Rugraff (St. Charles West, Mo.).
Watterson & Brown Wrestling Earn NWCA All-Academic Honors
The National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) has announced its annual Division I All-Academic Top 30 Teams and the NWCA Individual All-Academic wrestling team for the 2011-12 wrestling season and both the Brown wrestling program and sophomore standout Billy Watterson (Pound Ridge, N.Y.) received honors.
Dave Foxen Earns Winter Academic All-Ivy Honors
The Ivy League released its winter list of Academic All-Ivy honorees, with 10 Brown student-athletes being recognized. The five males and five females were starters or key reserves on their respective varsity athlete teams and carry a 3.0 or better cumulative grade point average.
2011-12 Brown Wrestling Season Comes to a Close at NCAA Championship
Senior wrestler Dave Foxen (Garden City, N.Y.) completed an illustrious career at Brown University on Thursday, competing in two matches at the NCAA Division I Championship, hosted by Missouri. Rookie Ophir Bernstein (Allen, Texas) capped his impressive first season with the Bears, also wrestling in two bouts. Both wrestlers went 0-2. Brown wrestling returned to the NCAA Championship in 2012 for the first time since 2010, and sent two wrestlers to the tournament for the first time since the Bears sent three in 2008.
