  • 2011 Fall Academic All-Ivy Announced
    December 13, 2011
    The Ivy League released its fall list of Academic All-ivy honorees, with 10 Brown student-athletes being recognized. The five males and five females were starters or key reserves on their respective varsity teams and carry a 3.0 or better cumulative grade point average.
  • Dan Lowry Named All-American at 2011 NCAA Cross Country Championships

    Terre Haute, IN- Senior Dan Lowry (Plymouth Meeting, PA) finished 28th in a field of 252 competitors at the 2011 NCAA Division I Championships hosted by Indiana State University this afternoon. The top 40 finishers earned All-American status, and it was the highest finish by a Brown male since Greg Whiteley finished 23rd in 1988.
  • Men's Cross Country Finishes in Fifth at NCAA Northeast Regionals

    Buffalo, NY- The Brown University men's cross country team finished in fifth out of 33 teams competing at the 2011 NCAA Northeast Regionals hosted at the University at Buffalo at the Audubon Golf Course yesterday afternoon. Leading the Bears was senior Dan Lowry, who earned third place on the 10,000m course with a time of 31:21.1.
  • Men’s Cross Country Earns Fourth at Ivy League Heptagonal Championships; Lowry & Duffy Earn First Team All-Ivy Honors

    Princeton, NJ- Led by a fourth place finish by senior Dan Lowry, the Brown University men’s cross country team finished in fourth place at the 2011 Ivy League Cross Country Championships hosted at Princeton University this afternoon. Lowry posted a 24:58.3 on the 8,000m course to earn First Team All-Ivy honors to help the Bears combined for 91 total points.

    East Greenwich, RI- Senior Ethan Hickey led all runners this afternoon with a first place time of 26:13.1 to help lead the Brown men’s cross country team earn the team title with 15 points at the Rothernberg Invitational this afternoon in East Greenwich, R.I.
  • Men’s & Women’s XC Compete at New England Championships

    Boston, MA- The Brown University men’s and women’s cross country teams competed at the 2011 New England Championships on Saturday afternoon at Franklin Park in Boston, Mass. The men’s squad earned 15th overall with 414 points, while the women’s squad came in 24th with 648 points.
  • Brown Men’s XC Crack Top-5 Regional Rankings; Women Top-10

    Providence, RI- The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Association (USTFCCCA) released week four regional rankings for the NCAA Division I 2011 season on Monday afternoon. The men's squad moved up three spots from last week and cracked the top five, and the women's team moved up two spots to rank ninth in this week's poll.
  • Men’s XC Earns Seventh at Paul Short Invitational

    Bethlehem, PA- The Brown University men’s cross country team finished in seventh place with 255 points in the 45-team field in the men’s gold division at the 38th annual Lehigh Paul Short Invitational. The Bruno men were led by senior Dan Lowry, who ran the 8k race in a solid 24:18 to finish sixth place overall.
  • Lowry Leads Men’s XC to Second Place Finish at Iona Meet of Champions

    New York, NY- Led by senior Dan Lowry's fifth place finish in 25:06 on the 8Km course on Van Cortlandt Park, the Brown University men's cross country team finished in second place at the Iona Meet of Champions on Saturday afternoon with a total of 64 points.
  • Men’s Cross Country Finishes Fourth at Dartmouth Invitational

    Providence, RI- In the first meet of the 2011 season, the Brown men's cross country team finished fourth with 93 team points at the Dartmouth Invitational this weekend. The Big Green won the title with 15 points, while Boston College finished in second (64), and Middlebury in third (68). Brown's rookie runners gained some valuable experience and will now prepare for the Iona Meet of Champions in New York on Sept. 17.
  • Men's Cross Country Opens 2011 Season at Dartmouth

    Providence, RI- The Brown University men’s cross country teams will open the 2011 season September 10 at the Dartmouth Invitational. Many of the team’s veterans will wait another week before racing the following weekend at the Iona College Meet of Champions.
  • Mitchell Baker Named Head Women's Cross Country Coach/Assistant Track & Field
    August 17, 2011
    Mitchell Baker joins the Brown staff as Head Coach of Women’s Cross Country and Assistant Coach of Track and Field in charge of women’s middle and long distance events. Prior to arriving on College Hill, Baker spent four years as an assistant coach at Williams College in Massachusetts, serving first as a cross country assistant and then four years as the primary event coach for the men and women competing in the middle distances.
