No. 9 Women’s Crew Defeats Cornell to Retain Dunn Bowl

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – No. 9 Brown University women's crew won all five races against Cornell University in an Ivy League dual to retain the Dunn Bowl on the Seekonk River on Saturday morning.

The Bears captured the first varsity eight, second varsity eight, A varsity four, third varsity eight, and B/C varsity four events and improved to 25-0 vs. the Big Red in the history of the Dunn Bowl, a trophy founded in 1993.

In the final event of the day, Brown's first varsity eight clocked in with a time of 7:08.40 to beat Cornell (7:36.60) by 28.20 seconds.

The Bears' second varsity eight took its race with a time of 7:22.30, outdistancing the visiting Big Red (7:37.80) by 15.50 seconds.

Rounding out the results from the NCAA events, Brown's A varsity four finished with a time of 8:20.10, topping Cornell (8:40.70) by 20.60 seconds.

Opening the day with the third varsity eight, the Bears registered a time of 7:48.50 to clip Cornell (8:01.60) by 13.10 seconds.

In the B/C varsity four race, Brown's B four (8:26.80) and C four (8:40.10) came in ahead of Cornell's B four (8:54.50) by 27.70 and 14.40 seconds respectively.

Next, Brown hosts No. 13 Southern California on Sunday, Apr. 23 before concluding its regular season at No. 8 Yale on Saturday, Apr. 29.
