Polenska Scores Third of Season, But Bears Fall 5-1 to Harvard
November 21, 2009The Bears got an exciting goal from rookie Alena Polenska (Kutna Hora, Czech Republic) to tie the game early on Saturday afternoon at Meehan, but couldn’t hold on, as Harvard came away with a 5-1 victory. With the loss, Brown falls to 1-6-3 in the early going, including an 0-5-3 mark in ECAC Hockey, while the Crimson improve to 5-3-1 overall, and 5-3-0 against league opponents.
Jamieson's 48 Saves Not Enough in 5-2 Loss
Despite rookie goalie Katie Jamieson’s (Waterloo, ON) career high 48 saves, the Bears dropped a 5-2 decision to the visiting Big Green on Friday night in a game that was much closer than the final score indicated. With the loss, Brown falls to 1-5-3 on the season, including 0-4-3 in ECAC Hockey action, while Dartmouth evens its record at 3-3-1 overall and 3-3-1 in league play.
Jamieson Named ECAC Hockey Goalie of the Week
Brown freshman goalkeeper Katie Jamieson (Waterloo, ON) has been named the ECAC Hockey Goalie of the Week for her terrific play in a pair of overtime ties over the weekend. Jamieson allowed just one goal in 128 minutes of play, and made 67 saves to help the Bears earn two points in the league standings.
Bears Skate to 1-1 Overtime Tie Against Rensselaer
After finishing with just one tie all of last season, Brown came away with its third in four games on Saturday afternoon, pulling out a comeback 1-1 tie on the strength of rookie Kelly Griffin's third period goal. With the tie, Brown moves to 1-4-3 on the season, with an 0-3-3 record in league play, while RPI improves to 4-6-4 overall and 2-2-2 against ECAC Hockey.
