PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Brown University women's soccer will host eight home games, including three Ivy League contests, as part of its 16-match 2017 schedule, which begins on Aug. 25, Brown head coach Kia McNeill announced on Tuesday.
The Bears embark on their season with a home match against Maine on Aug. 25 at 1:00 p.m., welcome crosstown rival Providence College to Stevenson-Pincince Field on Sept. 7, and host three Ivy League opponents – Dartmouth, Princeton, and Penn – during the conference slate.
After opening with Maine, Brown commences a three-game road swing with games at Rhode Island (Aug. 27), at Hartford (Aug. 31), and at Vermont (Sept. 2) prior to Labor Day.
Brown then hosts PC on Sept. 7 before another home game against Lafayette on Sept. 10. The team plays at Massachusetts on Sept. 14 prior to opening a three-match home stand. The Bears open the stand with Central Connecticut State (Sept. 17) and Sacred Heart (Sept. 24).
Bruno closes the trio of home games with its Ivy League opener against Dartmouth on Sept. 24 at 1:00 p.m. The match begins a stretch of seven straight conference contests to close the season.
The Bears follow the Dartmouth match with their first Ivy road game at Columbia on Sept. 30. Brown hosts Princeton on Oct. 7 before playing on the road at Harvard on Oct. 14 and at Cornell on Oct. 21.
Brown plays its final home game of the season against Penn on Oct. 28, hosting the Quakers for Senior Day for the Class of 2018. The Bears conclude the regular season with a match at Yale on Nov. 4.
McNeill returns junior goalkeeper Christine Etzel (Madison, Conn.) – the 2016 Ivy League Defensive Player of the Year – and First Team All-Ivy senior center back Maclaine Lehan (Shrewsbury, Mass.) from a team that finished in second place in the Ivy League standings last fall.
