Three Brown Women's Soccer Players Named All-Ivy

Brown University seniors Bridget Ballard (Los Angeles, CA) and Melissa Kim (Bethesda, MD), and sophomore Allison Kagawa (Mililani, HI) have been named to the 2009 All-Ivy Women's Soccer Team as selected by the League's eight head coaches. Ballard was named to the First Team, while Kim earned Second Team honors. Kagawa was recognized as an Honorable Mention All-Ivy selection.

Yale Defeats Women's Soccer, 1-0, in Season Finale
Becky Brown scored the only goal of the game at 11:22 of the first half to lead the Yale women's soccer team (10-6-0, 5-2-0) to a 1-0 victory over the Bears (5-9-1, 2-5-0) on a cold night at Reese Stadium.

Ballard and Kim Named CoSIDA/ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District
Brown senior co-captains Bridget Ballard (Los Angeles, CA) and Melissa Kim (Bethesda, MD) have been named CoSIDA/ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District in women's soccer. A back, Ballard earned a spot on the First Team, after earning Second Team honors in 2008, while Kim is making her first appearance on the team, earning Third Team honors. As a First Team selection, Ballard's nomination will now be forwarded on to the national ballot for Academic All-America consideration. The team is selected by voting members of the College Sports Information Directors of American (CoSIDA).

Penn Steals 1-0 Victory Over Brown in Defensive Struggle
Defense ruled the day on a blustery Senior Day afternoon at Stevenson Field, as both teams struggled to pass the ball in the wind, but Penn managed to net a late goal to come away with a 1-0 win despite being outshot 16-8. Seniors Brenna Hogue and Steffi Yellin combined to hold a shutout for 79 minutes before the Quakers got on the board, making three saves between them. With the loss, Brown drops to 5-8-1 on the season, with a 2-4-0 league record, while Penn improves to 9-4-2 overall and 3-3-0 in the Ivy League.
