Willard Places Sixth at IAAF World Championships
At the IAAF World Championships in Berlin, Brown graduate Anna Willard finished sixth in the 1,500m with a time of 4:06.19 distinguishing herself as one of the top middle-distance runners in the world. The race was won by Maryan Yusuf Jamal of Bahrain in a time of 4:03.74 following the disqualification of Spain’s Natalia Rodriguez after she pushed over Ethopian Gelete Burka.

Former Track & Field Sensation Anna Willard ’06 Enjoys a Successful 2009 Season
Former Brown Track & Field standout Anna Willard ’06 continues to make huge waves in the international track world when she recently won the 800m run at the Reebok Grand Prix in New York City and followed it up with a title in the 1,500m run at the London Grand Prix. Willard also took home the highest profile win of her career with a thrilling come-from-behind victory in the 800m at the IAAF Golden League Track & Field meet in Paris, France.

Brown Track & Field Honored by USTFCCCA
The Brown University men’s and women’s track & field teams have recently been honored by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) be being named Division I All-Academic Track and Field Teams. The selection of the All-Academic Indoor and Outdoor Scholar Teams of the Year award is based on a combination of academic and athletic achievements. To be nominated, the team must carry a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average.
